Comings and Goings at the KBLMT

Our prayers, concerns and thoughts go out to all effected by the recent storms and tornados. There are many that are volunteering help in the way of everyday items to labor in the rebuilding. AMTA-KY Chapter Facebook has listed several avenues of help and even chair massage events to work on those that are volunteering. Thanks to everyone who attended our Education Conference this year.  It is always a pleasure to see old friends, and to meet new ones each year.  We weren't going to let a few little storms stop us from having a great conference. 

Highlights included:

• Our first Student Event, brought to you by Collette Wilson was a hugh success with 35 students in attendance. 
• You elected a New President, 2nd Vice President and Secretary this year and our new AMTA-KY Chapter Board Members are:  Marta Lucas - President, Cathryn Forester, 2nd VP and Karen Cooper-Hillard, Secretary.
• Prior to the conference President Katie Stewart had appointed Cherie Kiesler to complete the term for 1st vice president following the resignation of Joe Cinquina.  The membership voted to approve the appointment by acclimation.
• The open Delegate postions went to Collette Wilson - 2 year Delegate 2012-2013, Beth Goshorn - 1st Alternate, Cathryn Forester - 2nd Alternate and Amy Guyton - 3rd Alternate.  Delegates, Denise Logson and Collette Wilson will be representing our Chapter at the AMTA National Convention this year.

AMTA Elects National Board

The American Massage Therapy Association® (AMTA®) announces the results of its 2011 national election, conducted electronically among its Professional members. Winona Bontrager of Pennsylvania was voted President-Elect. She will serve in that position from March 1, 2012 through February 28, 2013 when she will assume the position of President. On March 1, 2012 current President-Elect, Cynthia Ribeiro of California, will become AMTA President.

Rachel Mann (NC) and Jeff Smoot (OK) were elected as Vice Presidents and will serve two-year terms beginning March 1, 2012.

Three Members-at-Large of the Board of Directors also were elected: John William Kelley (TX), Dolly Wallace (MI) and Richard Wedegartner (MA).

Julie Beth Finn (MI), Lori Keith (NJ) and Mary Donker-Syvertsen (LA) were elected to the 2012 Commission on Candidacy and will coordinate the candidate search for the 2012 national AMTA election.
